Lessie "Pearl" (May) Clinton, 92, of Pearl, Mississippi, went to be with her Lord on November 24, 2016.

Pearl was born on August 10, 1924, and was one of eleven children of the late Willie and Tera May of Columbia, Mississippi. She grew up in Columbia and later met and married her first husband John Charles Nikolic in 1941, with whom she had two sons, John E. & Charles L. Nikolic. In 1947, she remarried to her husband of thirty years, the late Richard "Dewey" Clinton, with whom she also gained two stepsons, Roy and Troy Clinton. In 1955, Pearl gave birth to their only daughter, Joyce Lynn Clinton (Evans). In 1957, the family moved to Pearl, Mississippi, where Dewey would later start his own business (Clinton Wrecker Service) and they would raise their children. She was always proud to refer to herself as "Pearl from Pearl" and Dewey's truck even displayed an "I Love Pearl" bumper sticker until the day of his passing in 1997.

She never hesitated to show her love for family and friends, and her quick-witted sense of humor and fun-loving personality kept a smile on everyone's face. Her cooking was enough to make some of the best chefs envious. She loved Elvis Presley, Marty Robbins, country music and watermelon beyond belief. She loved her morning coffee and newspaper. She also loved to travel and experience the cultures and sites of many places both abroad and here in the US including Paris, London, Hong Kong, Venice, Tokyo, Rome, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Her love for life will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her, along with the many others that were blessed enough to have been in her presence if for just a short moment.

She was a member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl where she and her son John joined in 1998.

She leaves behind her daughter, Joyce Evans (Steve); son John E. Nikolic and son Charles L. Nikolic (Nora); granddaughters Latricia McNair (Terry) , Tere Crouchet (Shane), Stacy Hammond Putnam (Blake) and Amy Evans; daughter-in-law Libby Clinton (Roy) and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven of her siblings; sisters Lois Byrd and Avy Jewel of Columbia, MS, Clara Lee Barnett of Biloxi, MS, Alma May Bates of Petal, MS, along with her brothers Charlie May, Johnny B. May and Benson May of Columbia, MS; and two step-sons Roy and Troy Clinton.

She is also survived by three remaining siblings; sister Ruby Nell Pittman of Portland, TN; and brothers Clifton May and Mack May of Columbia, Mississippi.

Visitation will be from 12pm - 2pm Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will be at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
